5 College Outfit Ideas

By Tiffany Sy on October 18, 2016

In high school, you’re in school five days a week. In college, YOU have the freedom to choose your own schedule, which means being in school possibly two or three days a week. That’s the beauty of college!

However, the small but mighty pitfall about college is the option to choose what you wear. I have been wearing uniforms since as long as I can remember but when I first got into college, I had “free dress,” everyday. It was tricky because I would spend a lot of time in the morning picking out what outfit to wear, which was really cutting into my morning sleep.

A trick that I developed as time went on was to use clothing pieces more than once during the week. Yes, it’s completely sanitary to do so, especially if you’re like me who just goes to class and goes home. Prolonging the longevity of your clothes during the week also saves up on laundry quarters so that’s always good, right?

I have featured five outfits using two recycled shoes and two pairs of jeans.

Monday: I love black jeans because you can technically wear one pair during the week and no one will know (unless they’re embroidered or have cutouts on the side). Here, we have the classic black skinnies paired with the foolproof white sneaker from Common Projects.

You gotta keep all of your belongings in a backpack so why not stand out from the rest with a Chanel backpack? A white, classic muscle tee pairs perfectly with the sneakers and the orange cap is a fun pop of color to hide any fly-aways.

Tuesday: This is another cool and casual outfit featuring the three same items from above. An all black outfit is really great but the white sneaker is a nice contrast. This is a perfect outfit when you don’t know what to wear for the day. In addition, the colors from the backpack contrast well against the black background. Feel free to add any jewelry you may have; here, I paired a simple silver chain bracelet with this ensemble.

Wednesday: It’s the middle of the week so get ready for the weekend with this outfit. Velvet is all the rage this fall and this lovely blue-green velvet bodysuit hits all the right notes. Everyone should have a nicely made, medium washed pair of denim jeans in their wardrobe. I’m bringing back combat boots this season with a fat strap and black studs for a fun twist. Stash all of your belongings in your backpack and throw on a black choker to complete the look.

Thursday: I am in love with this outfit because it’s perfect for fall with the white turtleneck sweater. Again, this outfit features the same three pieces from above. The colors mesh really well and a turtleneck is essential for the fall and winter seasons. I would pair this outfit with possibly a light mauve lip with a messy bun with curled hair. Also, a wing would look really great and tons of mascara would be perfect too.

Friday: Congratulations, the weekend is here. If you don’t have class, then don’t bring your backpack but if you do, feel free to bring it. This outfit is fun and appropriate for the fall even though the dress features a floral print. The emerald green color transitions well into the fall and the black details help. I thought this dress would work well with patent oxfords so I threw it in here. Lastly, the pop of blue reflective glasses is also an unexpected twist on this outfit. You’re set for the weekend’s activities with your friends.

There you have it: five outfits for the week. I had fun making these outfits and look forward to making more in the future. I would love to know your thoughts in the comments below. Is there a particular outfit that stood out to you? Let me know and until then, study hard!
